Zero Waste Showering, get back to the basics

Showering, or bathing if you are into that sort of thing is a daily occurrence so why not make it as Eco-friendly as possible. There are plenty of ways to make your daily hygiene routine zero waste but still love that fresh feeling you get after. Here are my favorite switches that I have made over the years.

Shampoo: I moved to a shampoo bar and never looked back. If you have tried bars but don't love them, there are also a few options for brands that refill bottles in a subscription.

Conditioner: Naturally I also got the conditioner bar to match. They smell wonderful!

Body Wash: I love the hydrating bar soap from Grove. The box it comes in I throw in the compost. It smells great and leaves my skin feeling great.

Face Wash: I have rosacea so skin care has always been sensitive and needy! I had never found a face wash that did the trick so I figured I may as well switch to a bar. This bar is the only face wash that has ever done the trick. Needless to say, if you are not head over heals with your face wash, switch to a bar! Preferably with no plastic wrapping.

Shaving Cream: I make my own shaving cream, please reference the recipe on my other blog (Make it yourself, products for your body) This way you wont have the can to dispose of. I use an old bath and body works candle jar to store it in.

Razor: A Safety Razor is a great way to ditch the disposables. There is a bit of a learning curve, but once you get it you will love it! You will need to switch out the blade every so often and those are recyclable since they are metal.

Exfoliate: Ecotools Dry Brush is magic! I used to use sugar scrubs but once I found this brush my need for those plastic jars of sugary goodness were a thing of the past. I use it in the shower because my skin is too sensitive to scrape dry. It is much more comfortable once your skin is wet.

Loofah: If loofahs are your thing, you can buy a recycled plastic loofah from Grove. If washcloths are your thing find a company on etsy that is close to you and buy local!

No matter your preferences start somewhere and make a switch. Before you know it you will be zero waste and loving every minute of it!
