Make it yourself, products for home

With all of the products you probably buy to maintain your home and body, there must be a handful of them you could make yourself. When making your own products there are many pros including the price, less overall waste, the certainty of knowing what ingredients are used, and lastly the pride of having made it yourself. There are plenty of DIY recipes for almost anything you could want to make, so I will suggest some of my favorites, but please do your own research to find a recipe that works best for you.

Foaming hand soap: 10 oz boiled water, 3 Tablespoons liquid Castile soap ½ teaspoon liquid oil (I use almond, but Vitamin E would work well too), 5 drops essential oil of choice (I use Young Living, Thieves) I use a glass foaming soap dispenser from Grove but you can use/reuse any foaming dispenser.

Pour in liquid Castile soap, add oil, and essential oils. Then fill the remainder of the bottle with boiled water. Gently swirl the bottle to mix ingredients All-Purpose Cleaner: I got this from apartmenttherapy.com

2 cups of boiled water, 1 cup hydrogen peroxide, ½ cup of lemon juice. Mix in a glass spray bottle I get mine from Grove. Glass Cleaner: 1 ⅓ cups rubbing alcohol, 1 ¼ cups water, 3 tsp vinegar, spray bottle Pour all ingredients in a spray bottle and shake. Make sure you always use a lint-free cloth. Dusting Solution: 2 Tbsp liquid castile soap, 1 ⅓ cups of boiled water, 10 drops cinnamon essential oil, 4 drops clove essential oil (I use Young Living), spray bottle Add all ingredients to the spray bottle and shake to combine. Shake well, spray lightly and use a lint-free cloth. Yoga Mat Cleaner: ½ cup warm water with 1 ½ cup white vinegar, Add 10 drops of essential oils (I use Young Living Peppermint) Mix in a spray bottle. Spray mat, wipe with a wet cloth, dry with rag let air dry, both sides.

Laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, and dish soap are three of the products I have tried countless times and never found a version that worked well enough to justify using it over a brand in the store. I suggest when shopping for these items take into consideration the container it comes in as well as the ingredients it lists. I currently use the Ultra-Concentrated Laundry Detergent from Grove, Seventh Generation Dishwasher Detergent also Grove, and Berkley Green Dish Soap.
