How to travel and see the planet we love...
It is summer time and without a global pandemic we would all normally be traveling to enjoy our warm weather and time off. I have high hopes that we will return to normal and when we do I have compiled a list of helpful tips to keep in mind when you are planning your next vacay.
Transportation: You don't always have a choice of how to get where you are going. If you do the best ways in regards to the least amount of fuel but also emitting the least amount of emissions per passenger are going to be a bus or a train.
Packing light: Planning is the key to packing light. However, keep in mind that you don't want to have to purchase items when you get where you are going. Check and double check to make sure you have everything you need and nothing you don't.
Toiletries: If you are loyal to your bar soaps like I am it can be tricky to travel with them. The important thing is to make sure that when you pack them, they are dry. It might help to have a travel case to put them in as well.
Eating: I love eating out at restaurants when I am on vacation. Try to find local eateries where you are visiting to support the local small business economy and to also try new foods. While traveling its not always easy to have your own containers for taking home leftovers and even if you do take them you might not have somewhere to keep them. My advice on this is to be purposeful in what you order. Order the right amount of food that you will eat in that sitting so there are no leftovers.
Water: If you are picky about how your water tastes, bring plenty of water with you (if you can). This way you can avoid buying bottled water when you are away from home.
Sunscreen: If you are traveling somewhere and might be swimming in a body of water I strongly encourage you to chose your sunscreen wisely. My family uses strictly Sun Bum because of the ingredients it uses, the protection is provides and the fact that it is not harmful to the coral reefs, because we all know how important it is to protect those!
